Sean Dyche Excited for Everton’s Merseyside Derby with Liverpool – ‘We’re Ready to Fight’

3 min read

Liverpool has had a promising start to the season under Jurgen Klopp, whereas their city rivals, Everton, have faced a challenging period. Nevertheless, Everton’s manager, Sean Dyche, remains optimistic about his team’s ongoing progress throughout the season. With the upcoming match against Liverpool, Dyche is eager for his side to climb up the standings and distance themselves from the relegation zone.

Everton manager Sean Dyche wants to overhaul his side’s attitude to the Merseyside derby on Saturday.

Liverpool and Everton have been far from their best so far this season but Dyche said that the Toffees have an opportunity to change their fortunes in this fixture.

Dyche took over at Everton last season and against tough odds rescued them from Premier League relegation after they had slipped into the bottom three.

The former Burnley manager was brought to Goodison Park to reinvigorate a squad following Frank Lampard’s time in charge.

Dyche spoke to Molly McCann, one of Britain’s top UFC fighters, and a keen Everton supporter, for TNT Sports explaining he plans to change the mentality from the Toffees going into derby matches.

He said: “I think the thing we’ve been eloquent in recent history, what a fantastic opportunity for this time, ‘OK we’re fighting.’”

Everton go into the game with a dismal record in Merseyside clashes with their city rivals, winning just one of their last 28 encounters in all competitions.

Dyche is hoping that he is hoping his side can change the narrative of these games, starting at Anfield this weekend, despite going in as underdogs once more.

He added that they wanted to: “Impress on everyone that ‘we’re changing.’ What a fantastic opportunity to write, you know. We’re fighting, we’re working, we want to impress on everyone that we’re building on in a different situation.

“It sounds very easy, it’s not easy. A very strong team at home and all the rest of it. That’s the marvel of football I’ve been expressing to all the lads.

“We are the ones with the power to alter the narrative; waiting for it to change isn’t an option. Regardless of all the distractions and turmoil surrounding the club, honesty yields its own rewards.”

Liverpool will face Everton at Anfield on Saturday, with kickoff at 12:30 pm UK time.
